WHY ARE SLEEP DISORDERS NOT ACCEPTED AS A PROBLEM?
Although there have been centers and many articles dealing with sleep disorders in the world, this problem has started to attract attention in recent years. Unfortunately, pediatrics education does not cover sleep disorders and how sleep patterns in children should be. But this is a common problem and families seek advice about it.
EVERY BABY’S SLEEP CYCLE IS DIFFERENT
Babies are born with individual features that affect their amount of physical activity, sleep cycle, and crying duration. Some babies cry less and fall into sleep more easily, without assistance. On the other hand, there are also babies who cry a lot, cannot calm themselves down, and have difficulty falling into sleep. In this case, do not blame yourself, this is related to the baby’s temperament.
EARLY DIAGNOSIS OF SLEEP DISORDER IS IMPORTANT
The younger your baby is, the easier it will be to solve the sleep problem. Sleep disorders cause the baby/child to be inattentive, aggressive and unhappy. A good sleep is very important for a developing brain.
YOU CAN DEAL WITH SLEEP DISORDER
Preventing sleep disorders from occurring is something all parents can do. But this requires starting early and paying attention to the baby’s sleep rhythms. Babies can start learning to sleep well after they are 3-4 months old. If a sleep disorder occurs, solution suggestions that vary depending on the age of the baby/child should be implemented in a plan together with the family.
There are other sleep disorders than sleep disorders: sleepwalking, night terrors, snoring-sleep apnea. The causes and solutions for each are different. The important thing in sleep disorders is to recognize the problem early and implement the appropriate solution together with the family.
